Team Member Interview: Phyllis McDowell

Q: What motivated you to come on the Trip Initially?

A: "My desire to serve where there was a need."

Q: What surprised you the most about the Trip?
A: "The level of poverty in the community. I was expecting to see poverty, but not to this degree. It was so much worse than I could imagine. Yet, the residents were so pleasant, so goodhearted, and  so kind."

Q: Where did you see God at work today?
A: "I saw God at work in the people from the community who were so thankful to God and to us. They were particularly thankful that we came to them in person instead of sending something in the mail. God was also at work in the way everything fell into place today.

Q: What has been your favorite part of the mission thus far?
A: "Today (Tuesday) was my favorite part so far. To see the children relaxed and participating in activities and lessons. To see them having so much fun while playing the games; and observing them carefully watching  Bill as he was washing the disciples feet.

Q: What has been the most difficult?
A: "Riding in the van. It's a little cramped, and hot."
